  • Travelers:1 - 15 guests

This 4-day itinerary is for travellers who want two of Turkey’s most surreal landscapes in one go, without rushing through them. You start in Cappadocia, where the land is full of fairy chimneys, rock-cut churches and quiet valleys. After two nights in a cave or stone hotel and the chance to join a hot-air balloon at sunrise, you move on to Pamukkale’s white terraces and the ancient spa city of Hierapolis.

From the moment you leave Istanbul, the logistics are handled for you: flights, airport transfers, hotels and local guides. You wake up in Istanbul and, a few hours later, you’re standing in front of a landscape that looks like it belongs on another planet. By the last day, you’ve walked in underground tunnels, watched the sun hit Cappadocia’s valleys and felt warm mineral water running over your feet in Pamukkale.

Itinerary

Day 1: Istanbul → Cappadocia & North Cappadocia

Early in the morning, our driver picks you up from your hotel in Istanbul and transfers you to the airport. After a short domestic flight, you land in Cappadocia and meet your local representative outside the terminal. You join your small-group tour and head straight into the valleys.

Your first stop is Devrent (Imagination) Valley, where the wind has carved the soft rock into shapes that look like animals and figures. It’s an easy walk and a good introduction to Cappadocia’s unusual landscape.

Next you continue to Paşabağı (Monks Valley), famous for its tall fairy chimneys with multiple caps. Some of them still hide small chapels and hermit cells carved into the stone. Your guide explains how early Christian monks once lived and prayed in these rock pillars.

Around midday you drive to Avanos by the Kızılırmak River for lunch at a local restaurant. After eating, you watch a short pottery demonstration in a traditional workshop and, if you like, try shaping clay on the wheel.

In the afternoon, you visit Göreme Open-Air Museum or Zelve Open-Air Museum (depending on the route that day), a complex of rock-cut chapels and monasteries decorated with frescoes. Towards sunset, you stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the valleys or Uchisar for photos.

After the tour you’re dropped at your cave or stone hotel for check-in. The evening is free: you can wander through the village, have dinner on a terrace or simply rest after an early start.
Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 2: Cappadocia Balloon (Optional) & South Cappadocia

Before dawn, guests who booked it are picked up for an optional hot-air balloon flight. You’re driven to the launch area for tea, coffee and a light snack while the balloons are inflated, then you drift over valleys and fairy chimneys as the sun rises. After landing and a small celebration, you return to the hotel for breakfast.

Late morning you begin your South Cappadocia tour. The day usually starts with a walk through Red or Rose Valley, where the rock glows in shades of pink, red and orange. The path is generally easy, with your guide choosing the most suitable route for the group.

You then visit Çavuşin, one of the region’s oldest cave villages, with rock houses and a cliff-side church overlooking fields and vineyards. After lunch in a local restaurant, the tour continues to one of Cappadocia’s underground cities (Kaymaklı or Derinkuyu, depending on the day). You explore several levels of tunnels, storage rooms and narrow passageways that once served as hiding places during invasions.

In the afternoon you stop at Pigeon Valley or a similar viewpoint, named for the many dovecotes carved into the cliffs. A final panoramic stop near Uçhisar Castle gives you a last wide-angle look across Cappadocia’s landscape.

You’re dropped back at your hotel in the late afternoon. Evening free to relax, try local wine or join an optional Turkish night show.
Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 3: Cappadocia → Pamukkale

After breakfast and check-out, you have either a relaxed morning in Cappadocia or an early transfer, depending on the available flight or route for the day. There are two main logistics options:

  • Flight route: Transfer to the airport and fly to Denizli (sometimes via Istanbul). On arrival, you’re met and transferred to your hotel near Pamukkale.
  • Overland route: Drive toward Pamukkale by comfortable coach or private transfer, with rest stops along the way and a simple lunch stop.

In both cases, you reach the Pamukkale area by late afternoon or early evening. After check-in at your hotel, you can rest by the pool, take a walk in the village, or simply prepare for the next day’s sightseeing.
Overnight in Pamukkale area.

Day 4: Pamukkale & Hierapolis → Flight back to Istanbul

After breakfast you check out and begin your Pamukkale & Hierapolis tour. The day usually starts in Hierapolis, the ancient spa city that sits above the white terraces. You walk through the necropolis and along the main street, visiting ruins such as the Roman theatre and the Temple of Apollo. Your guide explains how visitors from across the Roman world once came here to bathe in the hot mineral waters.

Next you move down toward the bright white travertine terraces of Pamukkale. From a distance they look like snow or ice, but up close you see shallow warm pools stepping down the hillside. You take off your shoes and follow the marked path barefoot, feeling the warm mineral water over your feet and the smooth, chalky surface underfoot.

If you wish, you can pay the extra local fee to swim in Cleopatra Antique Pool, a thermal pool filled with clear water and fallen marble columns. It’s a unique way to relax after walking around the ancient city.

In the late afternoon you drive to Denizli airport (or Izmir, depending on the flight schedule) for your evening flight back to Istanbul. When you land, our driver meets you and transfers you to your central hotel.
Tour ends on arrival at your hotel.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the travel time between Cappadocia and Pamukkale?

Depending on the day’s route and flight availability, you will either fly (with a connection) or travel overland. Total travel time is usually between 4 and 8 hours, including rest stops and transfers. We always choose the most practical option available for your dates.

Is the hot-air balloon in Cappadocia included in the tour price?

No. The balloon flight is optional because prices vary by season and operator. If you’d like to add it, we can reserve a place for you with a licensed company and confirm the exact price before booking.

What kind of hotels are used in this tour?

In Cappadocia you stay in a boutique cave or stone hotel with modern comforts (private bathroom, heating/air-conditioning, Wi-Fi). In the Pamukkale area we use comfortable 3–4★ hotels, often with pools or thermal facilities, depending on availability and your budget.

Is this tour suitable for travellers with limited mobility?

Cappadocia and Pamukkale both involve walking on uneven ground, some slopes and steps. Guests who walk slowly or use a stick can usually join, but underground cities and certain paths may be challenging. If you have mobility concerns, please tell us in advance so we can suggest adjustments or alternatives.
